Jungle Yoga in Costa Rica

Costa Rica. Wildlife. Jungle. Delicious food. Hot weather. Beach.

Who needs more details to book a ticket?

This is a list of all the yoga studios I've visited in Costa Rica.

So if you're interested to check out Costa Rica's yoga scene this might help you on your way.

CABUYA

The Sanctuary at Two Rivers

If you love yoga and food - good vegetarian and vegan food - which is made of local and organic ingredients - go there. Honestly. It is a jungle paradise.

To get there as the name says you have to cross two rivers

with your bare feet or you put on watershoes which is not as cool.

This retreat is run by solar-power and looks like a little village itself. There is wilflife everywhere you look.

If you want to spend some quality time in nature to nuture your body and be inspired by yoga, meditation and delicious ayurvedic food - this is the place to be.

To refresh yourself just go for a walk to the private waterfall and relax while listening to the jungle sounds.

You're gonna wake up with the monkeys by sunrise and you're gonna fall asleep when the sun goes down by listening to their voices.

You'll be filled with a huge amount of positive energy when you leave the Sanctuary and trust me it's hard to leave. Pura vida :)

SANTA TERESA

To be honest Santa Teresa is pretty amazing but it's for sure more than just a surfer town with consistent waves and the vibe of freedom. The Costa Ricans know how to enjoy life and you can feel that.

Santa Teresa has some great food places like the Bakery and the Zwart Art Cafe, mhmm when I could just stop thinking about these places.

Horizon Yoga Hotel

Waking up in the morning climbing that hill up to this beautiful resort was one of my favorite things when I stayed in Santa Teresa.

Their yoga classes are mostly Vinyasa Flow as well as a traditional Sivananda style.

I never actually took one of the sunset classes but I heard it's spectacular. The morning classes were more interesting for me at that time because I loved to practice on the beach while the sun was going down.

So the Horizon Yoga Hotel - When you practice on their wooden yoga deck in the hills you have a great ocean view where you can almost feel the sand and water on your skin.

Nautilus Boutique Hotel

The Nautilus is a family-owned wellbeing boutique hotel which lies up the hill and is surrounded by the jungle.

Their restaurant offers gluten-free and mostly sugar-free food - so you can get your hunger under control after an exhausting/peaceful yoga class or just relax in their stunning pool.

They offer all kinds of yoga classes twice daily such as Vinyasa Flow, Power Vinyasa, Hatha, Kundalini, Ashtanga, Yin & Restorative classes.

LA FORTUNA

Rancho Margot

A sustainable ego-lodge in the middle of Costa Rica's rainforest. This place is totally off the grid. Rancho Margot offers yoga teacher trainings as well as empowering yoga classes twice daily. They also do all kinds of tours such as hiking, kayaking, horseback riding and fishing.

Want to relax. There is plenty of it available - either chill out in their natural spring fed pools or in their beautiful gardens. Everything they grow in their gardens is used in the kitchen - so they don't use any processed food. Try all of their salads - really good.

JACÓ

Aurora Yoga

Be prepared to sweat - I mean it's hot anyways in Costa Rica but this classes gonna get your heart rate up!

They teach in spanish and english. And this is the studio where I had my first class in spanish. I thought oh wow I won't understand a word - but it totally worked out. One teacher I really liked was Jennifer. Her classes require strength and endurance.
